PUCKETTS SUNDAY SHOWCASE HOSTED BY MARCUS WHYBREW FEATURING KELSEY STEELE 5.21.19

Alabama born, Nashville based singer/songwriter, Kelsey Steele, has had quite a busy year. Beginning with the release of her first video, “How’s That Working Out For Ya,” to her first tour to Texas and New Mexico, and lots of new music. Now she is expanding her reach, writing new material, and growing faster than ever.

“How’s That Working Out For Ya,” Kelsey’s first single, was written by four-time number one songwriter, Billy Montana, along with Ashley Gearing and Chris Gelbuda. It is the first of five songs on her self-titled EP which is available on iTunes, AmazonMusic, GooglePlay, Spotify, etc. The video, produced by Break Away Story, tells the tale of the song, portrayingSteele in a bar watching her presumed “Ex” pursue multiple women in a seemingly endless cycle of small talk, drinks, and ultimately being turned down by each woman.

“I met Billy Montana while interning at Curb Music Publishing. I was a bit starstruck at first, meeting the person who had penned a couple of my favorite songs, but he was so gracious and willing to offer advice. Not long after I began my internship, I overheard the songwriters writing this song. A year later while preparing to go into the studio, I still couldn’t get it out of my head. I loved the attitude it had and I was so honored to be able to record it.”

The EP marked Kelsey’s first venture into country music. However, she is no stranger to the stage, having honed her skills growing up touring in churches in front of thousands. She has performed at iconic venues and events such as Bridgestone Arena and the 2013 inauguration of President Obama as well as performing with legendary acts such as the Charlie Daniels band and Michael W. Smith.

Even as a little girl growing up in Alabama, Kelsey Steele was always mesmerized by how enchanting music is. Whether it was songs from the countless Disney movies, or jingles from school to help her learn, music rooted itself in her soul and never let go. By the time she was 3, Kelsey was holding down the melody while her mom sang out the harmonies of “From This Moment On” (the great Shania Twain). Music changes things, but this was something she didn’t understand for a really long time.

Kelsey started songwriting at age 15 because as a way of therapy. “It made me feel good,” Kelsey said, “I still did not yet realize that words and melodies could have so much power.” From there, she went to Lee University as a music major. But something kept drawing her to Nashville, a magical place where the heartbeat of music can be felt on every street corner… or so she thought.

After a few years, she moved to closer to Nashville and learned a lot. For starters, it wasn’t all unicorns and rainbows. “Music City works just as hard as it plays. Don’t get me wrong, there is magic there, but it comes with blood, sweat, and tears. Music began to take on new life for me.” Now going into five years, Kelsey is beginning to stand out among the crowd in Music City. She plans to release several new singles and videos in the coming year including her upcoming “Freight Train.” For more information and to stay up to date on all things Kelsey Steele, find her on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
